Corbett
National Park
Established in 1936,
the park is set in the undulating Shivalik foot hills of the
Himalayas with Ramganga flowing through it.
The diversity of the wild life and its approach in relation
to the major cities of the northern India have made it
perhaps the most famous park in India.
Famous for : Mugger,
Gharial, Tiger & Elephants.
Ranging from the Himalayas to the Gangatic plan Garhwal has
an important and vast ranges of wilderness areas.
Rajaji
National Park "Chilla"
Established in 1977 on the east bank of Ganga at the beginning
of the Indo Gangetic plains, this area has
traditionally been known for the Elephants that migrate
through it.
Famous for : Elephants & migratory birds.
Nanda
Devi National Park
Established in 1980 to protect high altitude Himalayan flora
& fauna, an area 630 sq kms in the vicimty of " Nanda Devi " the second highest
mountain in India.
Famous for : Rare monal, Musk deer & snow leopards.
Pushpavati National Park or Valley of
the Flowers
Of all the Himalayan meadows and the flowers valley, nothing
compares to Garhwal's unique rock garden, the valley of
flowers which is endowed with a most fascinating, fabulous
and rich variety of flowering herbs.
Famous for : The valley is full of high Himalayan flowering herbs. Some
of the most conspi cous flowering plants that the
visitors can enjoy are Purple Ipomoea, Stuarts primrose, Musk thistle,
stalked gentiana, Himalayan poppies blue and yellow,
Himalayan lily, Himalayan rose, and the Brahma kamal.
Faunistically the valley is rich in high altitude fauna. Musk
deer Bharal,Ghoral,Thar, Himalayan Brown Beer, in mammals
and Himalayan pheasant and other birds in avi fauna.
